How I’ve felt not posting the last 17 days > ⁣
⁣
To be honest, I was going to write some long caption justifying why I wasn’t posting...⁣
⁣
The truth?⁣
⁣
I simply didn’t feel like it. ⁣
⁣
And you know what I have learned? ⁣
⁣
That IS OKAY. ⁣
⁣
We live in a society that “follows” other peoples lives on a daily basis - so much so that we so easily forget what’s REAL & what’s not. ⁣
⁣
These past few weeks have been beautiful, busy, but most importantly… ⁣
⁣
Wildly Fulfilling For My Soul. ⁣
⁣
▪️Started an office Reno that we’ve been talking about for 3 years⁣
⁣
▪️Took a trip up to the never-ending maze that IKEA is and spent way too much money because everything looks soo good until you open the assembly manual. ⁣
⁣
▪️Spent a day chasing my best friend of 19 years around a 140.6 mile course and screamed my head off as she crossed that finish line long after sunset, after racing for 16 hours! ⁣
⁣
▪️Been to Lowes & Home Depot more in the last 9 days than I have in my entire life… ⁣
⁣
▪️Nailed our first piece of shiplap up on the wall after talking about it for years⁣
⁣
▪️My body is covered in primer spots that I can’t wash off, and my clothes smell like sawdust. ⁣
⁣
The ‘gram might have not seen it, but these are memories that I’ll cherish forever. ⁣
⁣
I’m not telling you that social media is bad, heck it’s my job, & surely i’m not a perfect example, but I try my absolute best to be an honest one for you… ⁣
⁣
So please don’t let instagram fool you. Some of the happiest people nowadays are “offline” collecting memories without feeling the need to carefully curate every part of their life. ⁣
⁣
I read this quote earlier that really hit me & wanted to share, “Never before has a generation so diligently recorded themselves accomplishing so little…” ⁣
⁣
Remember this: Don’t compare your REAL LIFE to someone else’s carefully controlled online content because they are NOT the same. ⁣

Repeat that 4x back to yourself because I don’t want you wasting another second of your life feeling inadequate or unworthy because your feed doesn’t show it.⁣

SELF LOVE IS NOT EGO ⁣⁣

I’ll spare you the name because that’s not the point of this post, but i just read a  comment that said...⁣⁣

“All these self-love guru’s think they’re helping people...instead they’re just creating a bunch of egoistic women, SMH 🤦🏼‍♀️.” ⁣⁣

I had to stop myself from going CRAZY on them 🤪🤣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You listen up: Never confuse self-love with ego, as they are entirely different. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
An ego requires a person to think they’re better than others and will put others down in order to keep that perception. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Self-love, on the other hand means you are your own best friend...⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It means that you’re trying to love every part of yourself...⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You’re trying your best daily to accept, encourage, care for and believe in yourself. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
By extending yourself self-love through that, you’re able to do that for others...⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sometimes its in the form of a social media post directly expressing your struggles or victories in this crazy journey called “life”...⁣⁣
but other times, it’s indirectly through your actions, confidence, or energy that will inspire self-love. ⁣⁣

Either way, ladies keep on DOING YOUR THING. ⁣⁣

I will always, always encourage practicing self-love, because I believe that part of being grateful for the lifetime we get to spend on this beautiful earth in these beautiful bodies means to love it, and more importantly love yourself. ⁣⁣

I remember there was a time that I aimed for the leanest, most shredded physique thinking that it would make me “healthiest”. ⁣
⁣
Gosh, was that furthest from the truth...🤦🏼‍♀️ ⁣
⁣
Sadly, the stage-lean physique has been idolized as “healthy” in this industry… to see a photo like that re-pinned so many times made me want to CRINGE because the truth is… that veins, defined muscles shred AF abs do not always = HEALTH! ⁣
⁣
There are more and more women coming out sharing their stories about what competing (short term goal) & putting their body in a severe caloric deficits has done for their long-term health. ⁣
⁣
👉🏼Hormonal issues⁣
👉🏼Digestion issues⁣
👉🏼Severe Depression⁣
👉🏼And much more ⁣
⁣
Again Health is NOT lean…⁣
⁣
In fact the dictionary even defines “HEALTH” as; “the condition of being sound in body, mind and soul.” ⁣
⁣
So why is it that most of society equates HEALTH as LEAN…? ⁣
⁣
Sadly it’s because it’s the physical appearance that is enticing.⁣
⁣
As you can see, my “healthiest” body definitely carrying more body fat than my leanest physique, but I can tell you I’ve never FELT healthier (mentally, physically & emotionally) in my life. ⁣

👉🏼Hitting PRs in the gym⁣
👉🏼Finding a sustainable routine for both my training & nutrition that EXCITES me every day to become a better version of myself⁣

NOTE: I am NOT saying that all people with lean physiques are not heathy, genetics are different, but what I AM saying is to quit looking at a lean physique and immediately thinking THAT is “health”, because that’s rarely the case. ⁣

Quit picking apart your physical body & start re-defining what HEALTH looks like to you...⁣
⁣
Ask yourself:⁣
✔️Can I maintain this lifestyle (training & nutrition) for longer than 2 years? ⁣
✔️How am I doing mentality? ⁣
✔️Am I too busy obsessing about an ideal physique that I am not able to celebrate where I’m at right now? ⁣
✔️Do I truly enjoy what I’m doing or has it become a chore?⁣

OOOF this might be a very unpopular opinion, but… ⁣

it’s something I’ve wanted to chat about for a while but have avoided it because I’ve been scared to say it, but it needs to be said...⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Self-care isn't glamorous or pretty.⁣
⁣
It’s NOT going shopping, getting your nails done or getting a facial or massage.⁣⁣
⁣
Cue: Everyone’s face looking like 😳⁣
⁣⁣
I believe that society has fooled us into thinking that if we do those things in the name of “self-care”, then we will feel prettier which will lead to further confidence and acceptance of ourselves.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sure it’s nice and relaxing to “treat yo self” but ladies, those things are surface-level temporary high’s. ⁣
⁣
They do not fix issues.⁣
⁣
In fact, they do something far worse, they put a band-aid over them only to cause larger problems in the future.⁣
⁣
ESPECIALLY the deep rooted icky insecurities ones that we’d rather ignore or be in denial that we don’t have.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You see the truest form of self-care isn't always looking in the mirror and looking at yourself with eyes of love…sometimes its taking time to finally face the self-hatred that you feel at yourself and hating the feeling so much it forces you to change.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
True self-care is sometimes making yourself  get out of bed to put yourself out there…even (correction: especially) when you don't want to. ⁣
⁣
Sometimes self-care means sitting in silence and listening to your soul or hiring a therapist to help you do a deep dive.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Other times, it’s being brutally honest with yourself to cut ties with people and things that are not adding value to your life, no matter how hard it might be.⁣..⁣
⁣⁣
And other times, it means letting go of what you want you to do and trusting your gut on what you NEED to do.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Self-care isn't always pretty, but it is always worth it.⁣..⁣
⁣⁣
So please, on your next #SelfCareDay, don’t forget to care for your mind, heart and soul too.⁣..your confidence and self-acceptance will thank you for it! ⁣

OOOF this might be a very unpopular opinion, but… ⁣ ⁣ it’s something I’ve wanted to chat about for a while but have avoided it because I’ve been scared to say it, but it needs to be said...⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Self-care isn't glamorous or pretty.⁣ ⁣ It’s NOT going shopping, getting your nails done or getting a facial or massage.⁣⁣ ⁣ Cue: Everyone’s face looking like 😳⁣ ⁣⁣ I believe that society has fooled us into thinking that if we do those things in the name of “self-care”, then we will feel prettier which will lead to further confidence and acceptance of ourselves.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Sure it’s nice and relaxing to “treat yo self” but ladies, those things are surface-level temporary high’s. ⁣ ⁣ They do not fix issues.⁣ ⁣ In fact, they do something far worse, they put a band-aid over them only to cause larger problems in the future.⁣ ⁣ ESPECIALLY the deep rooted icky insecurities ones that we’d rather ignore or be in denial that we don’t have.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ You see the truest form of self-care isn't always looking in the mirror and looking at yourself with eyes of love…sometimes its taking time to finally face the self-hatred that you feel at yourself and hating the feeling so much it forces you to change.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ True self-care is sometimes making yourself get out of bed to put yourself out there…even (correction: especially) when you don't want to. ⁣ ⁣ Sometimes self-care means sitting in silence and listening to your soul or hiring a therapist to help you do a deep dive.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Other times, it’s being brutally honest with yourself to cut ties with people and things that are not adding value to your life, no matter how hard it might be.⁣..⁣ ⁣⁣ And other times, it means letting go of what you want you to do and trusting your gut on what you NEED to do.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Self-care isn't always pretty, but it is always worth it.⁣..⁣ ⁣⁣ So please, on your next #SelfCareDay , don’t forget to care for your mind, heart and soul too.⁣..your confidence and self-acceptance will thank you for it! ⁣ ⁣⁣ TAG A FRIEND who needs to hear this. 🤟🏼♥️⁣ ⁣ #EmbraceYourReal ...

At the time trust me, It felt crazy, heck even after a few months of writing in it, I still felt crazy. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

It felt weird writing to someone who I had never met before, but I already knew their name,or at least I thought I did, even that I questioned many times...⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

But something in my heart was telling me it was important for me to write in this journal because inside those pages was the place for me to express prayers, hopes, dreams & emotions that I couldn’t elsewhere.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
