play_circle_filled Looking back at how easy this felt (only because I worked at it so often, not because I’m any better than any other girl at pull-ups)...can’t wait to push myself to get back to it once my body is healed, post baby! 💪🏼🤰🏼👶🏻 When fun strength training becomes addicting, REST time is the hardest thing to do....I’m gonna be antsy after giving birth, for sure!

Some may wonder...how can I celebrate so much for a pregnancy that I never wanted, and that has created so much stress in my personal life? First of all, I believe EVERY baby’s life deserves to be celebrated, and not defined by a situation out of that baby’s control. My son is not at fault for my scenario...and the truth is I’m blessed to be carrying a child who has brought so much happiness to my family already. 💙 One day, I may share more about my pregnancy experience. I’ve shared a little, because I know others out there can relate. My story of how I became pregnant, and the events that followed, might be one of the crazier ones out there, and it’s no fairytale...but you’ve all been very respectful in hearing the amount of that story I’m willing to share, while also respecting the privacy of me and my son. I know my personal story may be relatable to other women one day, but at this time I’m pretty private. 💙 Two of the amazing things that have come from all of this...obviously MY SON...and also some really good hearted people I’ve met through my experience. .

35 weeks pregnant, and focused on my OVERALL health!! Mental health and physical health should not be thought of as entirely separate from one another! Poor physical health can lead to an increased risk of developing mental health problems. Similarly, poor mental health can negatively impact physical health, leading to an increased risk of some conditions (Mental Health Foundation). I firmly believe maintaining an active lifestyle encourages a happy life, and science agrees. Additionally, factors that may be causing unhealthy stress/depression/anxiety should be removed from one’s life, or changed. For example: unhealthy or abusive relationships, poor money spending habits, feelings of needing to please everyone constantly...the list goes on! Remember, everyone has stress, and some stress can be good. The important thing is to recognize when a level of stress is becoming detrimental to your health, and finding ways to address that. .

5 weeks to go! 🤰🏼 I’m still staying active all day, and making time for the gym....but don’t let my instagram posts paint the wrong picture. I still have lots of fatigue and take a nap during the day now. I like to encourage an active and fit pregnancy to other women, but I’m certainly not any more of a superwoman than any other girl out there. I realize when most of what I post is me being active while pregnant, it may seem that way! REST is important, just as exercise is. And that goes for non pregnant people too 💪🏼. .

. PS- what is going on with my eyebrows 🤣🤨

To feel beautiful when your body is uncomfortable is a wonderful thing ❤️. Photographer @ang__24 captured this picture of me during our maternity shoot. I layered two @thediamonddaughters necklaces and wore with my @sexymamamaternity dress on the beach during sunset. Everything focused on making me feel beautiful while celebrating my son, who will be born next month....from photos highlighting my baby bump, to the jewelry with his birthstone and the warrior represented on the coin, to a dress fitted around my belly. 👶🏻 Baby boy, you are LOVED!

play_circle_filled 30 lbs heavier, so I’m not too hard on myself about kipping and reps. For me, the satisfaction of completing a couple of pull-ups at this point in my pregnancy is enough. I always loved doing them prior to being pregnant, because they made me feel empowered. I worked hard to get a high number of strict pull-ups. The most I remember doing strict was 22. I’m not the absolute strongest or most fit girl around, but I work hard and I set goals for myself 💪🏼. Getting good at pull-ups, because they felt empowering to me, was one of those goals. There are other exercises you can do to get better at pull-ups, but the BEST way to get better at pull-ups is TO DO PULL-UPS! Try band assisted ones 💪🏼. .

With only 6 more weeks until Baby J’s due date, I feel very fortunate that no complications have kept me from being active. There are definitely types of movements I’m avoiding, because although I may be able to do them they aren’t safe for the baby. However, most things I can still do and actually have fun challenging myself to do them. This is a heel stretch. My leg isn’t in front of my face like it would be while stunting during college cheer, because my belly is making me have to hold it out to the side. That’s okay! Just glad to still be working on body control movements 💪🏼🤰🏼. .

#transformationtuesday 🤰🏼. Fun fact: In the third trimester, a woman’s body has increased blood volume by 60%. Also, did you know that pregnant women (on average) should increase calorie intake by 300 per day in the third trimester? I’m not a calorie counter, myself. However, this is an important fact because it demonstrates a pregnant woman doesn’t need to “eat for two” literally. Increased calorie intake helps momma with energy required to grow a baby, and of course includes additional nutrients in the mom’s diet since the baby is needing a lot of the nutrients she eats! Overeating by literally “eating for two” can result in excess weight gain (not good kind of weight gain) which can put both mom and baby at risk for various health concerns. Pretty simple facts here, but I’m amazed at how many women eat FAR more than needed during pregnancy, and junk food at that! I think sometimes we excuse bad eating habits during pregnancy just because the belly is growing anyway. Remember, staying healthy is good for mom AND baby. Keeping my son healthy is motivation enough for me 💪🏼. #34weekspregnant .

Late August 2018, I discovered I was pregnant. My first ultrasound was at 7 weeks. The ladies doing my ultrasound showed me my baby, and I heard and saw his heartbeat for the first time. “Congratulations” they told me, and I couldn’t help but cry even though I tried to hold it in...it was a rush of emotion. I had not wanted to be pregnant. I was confused as to how this had happened (I believed it was not possible). I felt depressed, and thought about an immediate future that I had no plan for. I cried because I felt worried and sad, and I also cried a teeny bit for some kind of adoration of that baby’s heartbeat. It was overwhelming to have no intention of being pregnant, then turn around to realize someone else now depended on me completely. The months following August 2018 have been less than easy, and my pregnancy experience certainly hasn’t been the kind most women dream of. I’m single, and haven’t had a partner throughout my pregnancy. I just had my 34 week ultrasound, and I remembered the feeling during my 32 week ultrasound. Again, I heard my son’s heartbeat and felt an overwhelming rush of emotion. I got a little choked up, but didn’t sob this time. This time, my emotion was pure joy and love for this little baby who has reminded me over and over again why a difficult situation/pregnancy is completely worth it. My son has brought so much joy to my family, who has experienced incredible pain when we lost my dad and a few other loved ones unexpectedly in 2017. My son has also helped me to see how very blessed I am with the most genuine of friends, who have supported me completely and let me know I’ve NEVER actually been alone during my pregnancy. I’ve also met other incredible women through my experience. My son has already brought love into the world, even before his birth. 💙 Every pregnancy experience is different. Many women in similar positions to me (without a partner) experience the sadness/depression/anxiety of their situations throughout their entire pregnancies. This is okay, and totally expected. It doesn’t mean these mommas don’t love their babies as much as any other momma. It just means they’re learning to cope while taking on the world..

Yesterday, a selfless woman who offers guidance to ladies in my situation said to me “Congratulations on your pregnancy! Don’t let the stress of your situation keep you from enjoying your pregnancy.” 💙 I’m not sure anyone could capture my appreciation for my pregnancy better than @ang__24 did in this photo. She made me feel like I was literally glowing. 📸. You have all heard me say before that I don’t LOVE being pregnant. It’s getting more and more uncomfortable! However, even though my pregnancy has been the opposite situation from what most women dream of, I do appreciate the gift I’m carrying...my son! That is the joy I find everyday in my pregnancy...a baby boy who has brought so much happiness to my family already. 💙.
