If I had to choose one thing - the best part of the trip was being alone and riding my bike through Vietnam.
I covered ~2,800 km over 3 weeks. I had never ridden a motorbike before, but learned by watching a YouTube video and a 10-minute tutorial when I picked up the bike.
There were a few challenging moments - going off-road in the mountains trying to find my lost wallet, the handful of thunder and hailstorms, the bad turns that led me down muddy dirt roads, the few falls that resulted in some scrapes.
But overall, it was so worth it! I discovered a new love - an experience that was peaceful, challenging, meditative, surprising and rewarding.
This experience made me really appreciate so much: time, health, friends, freedom, wealth, opportunities.
I didn’t spend too much time “doing” things... rather, I spent most of my time just “being”. That was probably the best part - cruising down the road, up and around mountains, through farms and forests, alongside oceans, over bridges, passing through towns - and feeling so connected with myself, my family, and this country.
Was it scary? Fuck, yah!! But, boy was it thrilling. It was truly a blessing! 🙏🏾 ...
