Race recap 💛💙
Getting to the start was during a torrential down pour so we waited a bit (I later was grateful for not having to stand around in athletes village long). I think I clocked 2.5 miles walk pre race. I started feeling flat and knew it was a fun for now and might get rough. I was right. I had SO much fun miles 1-10. The patter of feet along the course still gives me goosebumps. The scream tunnel was no joke and gave me life around mile 12! I tried music from 14-17 but my iPod died so I slapped hands, slowed down and rolled with it. Miles 17-24 I walked the hills. I decided I’d rather smile than run and feel miserable. 24- the finish was ELECTRIC. Just... wow!!! I had the best time! I kissed my handsome at the turn of Hereford and Boylston and that set a fire under me to finish strong >> check the smile ☺️💙💛 I saw a sign with Dory from finding Nemo “I’m never running a marathon again... oooo look a race!” 💁🏼♀️I’ll be back next year and that hill won’t break me twice! #bostonmarathon#bostonmarathon2019 ...
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” 🌧 🦄🎉
I was faced with calf cramps during the Boston Marathon from mile 8-26.2 and stopped probably 50 times (not exaggerating), but I didn’t let those cramps stop me from having fun out there. I had fun taking videos of my journey from Hopkington to Boston. I saw amputee runners, blind runners with their guides, a police officer running in his uniform and boots, I stopped at mile 17 to give Craig a hug and he handed me a Red Bull and my inhaler. There was a Firefighter passing out ice, I put one in my mouth and a handful down my sports bra to keep me cool. Families passing out oranges, licorice, pretzels, gummies and donuts. The scream tunnel of the Wellesley girls was a riot. One of the highlights was my Oiselle team cheering me on. I heard one of them yell, “runbessierun”! It put a smile on my face. 😀🤗 The Oiselle Team is the best!
The Boston Marathon wasn’t the race I trained for but going into this race my main goal was to enjoy the journey and have FUN, and I had a blast with friends and new friends that I met in Boston. 💙💛💙💛💙💛💙💛💙💛
I’m so glad this photographer caught this moment on Hereford, less than a mile to the finish line of me looking up and thanking GOD for his strength that day and for the rain at the end of my race!🙌🏻🙏🏻🎉
26.2... 4:06.03 🎉
