The HALO Bassinest hospital series is the only hospital bassinet designed to safely keep baby closer to mom than ever before.
Here are some of the cool features:
1️⃣ 360-degree swivel designed to fit over the bed, allows mom to position baby wherever she likes. Ideal for all mothers, but especially those recovering from a C-section or with physical disabilities.
2️⃣ Lowering bedside wall allows mom easy access to her baby, and automatically returns for safe sleep. The bedside wall can also be locked when not in use.
3️⃣ Adjustable height makes it helpful both to mom and nursing staff, who can easily change the height to check on baby.

The laminated sign pinned to our hospital room’s wall was bold and clear-cut, leaving no room for interpretation. Bed sharing is unsafe. Newborn babies are safest sleeping in the clear plastic container provided.
▫️
My husband and I smiled knowingly, grateful we’d already educated ourselves on infant sleep. We felt empowered we’d made our own informed decision, based on scientific research and rooted in millions of years of evolutionary history, rather than the influence of modern day fear and consumerism.
▫️
I felt confident to share our bed with our baby and the benefits it promised excited me. But, only hours after our son’s birth I thought I should respect hospital policy. So, I nursed our baby, placed him in the hard plastic container and watched him fall asleep. I listened to his breathing, hopping up every two minutes to double check he was ok.
▫️
The problem was, I couldn’t sleep. My little man who I’d nourished and protected for 42 weeks inside me, was now in a plastic container. It felt wrong. Every fibre of my being was instinctively screaming to hold him. I couldn’t stand it any longer.
▫️
So, I scooped up my son and felt him nuzzle into me. I relaxed and drifted off to sleep and our son hasn’t left our bed yet.
▫️
I’m happy to say we’re not alone. Dr James McKenna, the world’s leading authority on mother-infant cosleeping, suggests at least 50% of all parents cosleep at some point during the night. It’s just that most parents dare not admit it in our separate sleep dominated society.
▫️
But, is bedsharing dangerous? Well, that all depends. Eating can be a dangerous habit, but do we stop eating out of fear of choking? Of course not, we learn how to eat safely. And we need to be teaching new parents how to bedshare safely rather than making instatements that it is categorically unsafe. In 1999, The Consumer Product Safety Commission published data showing over 3 times as many crib-related infant fatalities compared to adult bed accidents. If practiced intentionally by informed breastfeeding parents, bed sharing is undeniably safer for babies than isolated crib sleeping. 💗 #raisedgood 📷: @monann_illustration.

On Perfect Gifts & God’s Perfect Timing
.
I was supposed to be scheduled for CS today, March 12, 2019, about week before Baby Elijah was due. For some reason, God sent him almost a month early and was born last Feb. 16, 2019, just a couple of days after Valentine’s day.
.
It has been a little over 3 weeks since and I’m still in awe about how the Lord orchestrated his arrival. My doppler ultrasound was scheduled on a Monday, the same day my OB @dr.beckysingson was scheduled to leave for Japan. By some divine leading, she decided to have a doppler ultrasound a few days earlier where the sonologist found out that my amniotic fluid level was too low. My doctor then decided that I should undergo an emergency C-Section that very Saturday before the baby becomes distressed which could lead to him being stillborn.
.
It may have seemed a month too early but it was God’s perfect timing — the supernatural childbirth that I was praying for. Now I am blessed that I can cradle him in my arms to stare at his beautiful face. What a perfect post-Valentine’s gift from a faithful God whom we serve!
.
I’m also blessed to have found the @armsreachph bed side co-sleeper on @kidoozi. It allows me to have my baby within reach so I can nurse or comfort him in my arms without having to get up in the middle of the night. So grateful for this convenience as it allows me to care for my baby while healing post-surgery.
.
Oh what perfect gifts from above!

Do you have ‘other mother envy’? Wish you could do ‘All. The. Things.’? Cut yourself some slack, even the mums who can do everything, will have days when they cry in the shower too.

Well, the day has come. Jackson’s things have officially been swapped out of his closet because Juniper’s things already outgrew the dresser...and she’s not even here yet.

She will be in our room for the first few months but then they will be bunking together.

Any mamas of both boys and girls have any room sharing tips for us?.

I cried so much over the last two years.⠀
⠀
Seriously....SO MUCH.⠀
⠀
😭 I cried when you were born, when you had your first vaccinations, when you didn’t want to go to nursery. But mainly, I’ve cried a lot in the night. ⠀
⠀
Because you are what other people like to call a “bad sleeper”.⠀
⠀
I wasn’t really crying because you woke for the 4th, 5th, 6th time. I was crying because I was lost.⠀
⠀
Because I had followed all the gentle sleep advice to a T:⠀
⠀
✔️ Have a consistent bedtime routine⠀
✔️ Go outside everyday⠀
✔️ No Tv 2 hours before bed⠀
✔️ Make sure the bedroom is pitch black⠀
⠀
And nothing seemed to make a difference. No matter what I did, I couldn’t ‘fix’ you. I fed you, I carried you, I responded to you. Still nothing changed.⠀
⠀
So I made a decision.⠀
⠀
👉 I decided to STOP trying to fix you. ⠀
⠀
👉 To stop looking at the clock each time you woke up.⠀
⠀
👉 To stop feeling EMBARRASSED when others asked if you were sleeping through the night yet. ⠀
⠀
👉 To stop fighting it. Going to bed at 8pm. Resting when you nap. Giving myself this time.⠀
⠀
🌿 And suddenly I feel better. More relaxed. More grateful for these cuddles ❤️ which I am starting to realise won’t last forever.⠀
⠀
Knowing that this too shall pass.

Tell me, How did you cope with the sleepless nights?
