Over exercising and under eating make is harder to maintain a healthy body fat percentage in the long run. Yo yo dieting is no fun. Its draining, consuming and disappointing. Forcing our bodies to lose a certain amount of fat in a certain amount of time causes a cascade of physiological responses that ultimately are trying to get you to STOP LOSING WEIGHT. Hunger goes up, energy goes down, cravings creep in... Then suddenly you've either sling shotted in the opposite direction and gained back everything you lost OR you fight and struggle every day to keep yourself at your new low weight. Been there, done that, got all the t-shirts. I lost 10 years to this. It took a lot for me to say f**k it, I don't care what happens to my weight, I just want to be healthy and EAT. It was terrifying but I just couldn't keep yo yoing. I had nothing more to give. I thought I'd balloon up and instead found everything I was looking for all along.
There is a way to achieve and maintain a healthy body fat percentage effortlessly, but it requires some serious patience and letting go of the diet mentality which is unfortunately engrained in so many of us.
Your body wants to be healthy and fit and it will get you there AT IT'S OWN PACE if you behave and nourish yourself in the way that you are meant to.
Eat whole and nutrient dense foods, eat when you're hungry, workout for fun, sleep, relax and search for joy. When we do this we give our bodies everything it needs to be healthy and slowly but surely the outward will reflect the inward. And you'll be happier. Trust me. Just being able to eat when you're hungry brings your life back. And you won't mind that the weight is coming off slower.
