Learning Arabic in 60 days - 🎉 Our final video is up now! 🎥.
.
Two months ago, @hooshd and I arrived in Cairo and jumped in head first into Egyptian Arabic 🇪🇬. First off, Arabic is as tough as people say. After every lesson I felt absolutely drained and had to just lie down for a bit and not do anything. 😴 But the reward was that we got to form deeper connections and learn so much more about the culture. We were also able to experience life in Egypt, not worried about whether someone spoke English. It was liberating! Everyday there was less and less miming happening and while I still have to rely on my charades skills from time to time, I'm proud of how far I've come since Day 1. .
So.. how far did we get and what’s next? Watch the video to find out! Link in bio..

Visiting Abu Simbel was one of the highlights of our Nile cruise! Did you know that this great place is part of the world heritage list? .
Quick Facts:
Abu Simbel, site of two temples built by the Egyptian king Ramses II (reigned 1279–13 BCE), now located in Aswān, southern Egypt. In ancient times the area was at the southern frontier of pharaonic Egypt, facing Nubia. The four colossal statues of Ramses in front of the main temple are spectacular examples of ancient Egyptian art.
.
So try to see this in your lifetime! .

The Great Sphinx of Giza is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human. Facing directly from West to East, it stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. ⁣

Here is what is conventionally believed about the Sphinx
⁣
The face of the Sphinx is generally believed to represent the Pharaoh Khafre. Cut from the bedrock, the original shape of the Sphinx has been restored with layers of blocks. It measures 73 metres (240 ft) long from paw to tail, 20.21 m (66.31 ft) high from the base to the top of the head and 19 metres (62 ft) wide at its rear haunches. ⁣
⁣
It is the oldest known monumental sculpture in Egypt and is commonly believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during the reign of the Pharaoh Khafre (c. 2558–2532 BC). ⁣
