There’s not much room in an IG bio so I thought it might be nice to introduce myself. I use the word artist in my bio because I don’t really see myself as a photographer. All of my flower studies are created without a camera. I digitally paint each one after scanning my subject at high resolution. Each gallery print that I produce takes over 100 hrs of work as detail is painted in, literally pixel by pixel. If you can, please look at the images I have on my website, on a monitor not a phone if possible, and you will get a better idea of the fine details involved. It probably seems bizarre to most, that I would choose to work this way when so much of our modern technology and culture is about instant gratification and getting things done yesterday. I guess, what I strive to express through my art, is something that can only really be achieved after spending considerable time with my subject. I recall David Hockney making a similar comment about his painting and about there being tremendous value in the time spent quietly observing. Not to say that all art should be created in this way, but to me, that way of working is more relevant now than ever. It’s a conscious decision to reject part of what has become embroiled in our psyche. It’s a need to slow down and connect with something on an entirely different level. To go deep and really really look at this world in an attempt to understand some of the bigger questions.....

FLORAL SHADES OF GREY
Tulip in solarisation, Black&white
Solarisation is a phenomenon in photography in which the image recorded on a negative or on a photographic print is wholly or partially reversed in tone. The sun, instead of being the whitest spot in the image, turned black In a time where Instagram shows countless colorful pictures I have now come to a rather poetic interpretation of the floral world. These photographs show us how much nature offers us. Maybe my pictures inspire you to contemplate the world. Thanks a lot for feedback 🤞☺️ www.jofrancis.com .

“Verbena”
In love with the cool, lemongrass tones of this Icelandic poppy. I’ve always loved the smell of verbena. Simple. Elegant. Radiating freshness that has, so far, proven timeless in it’s appeal..

I found the first of my Hellebores flowering today. Sheltered by a Hemlock tree they are building up numerous buds nicely. I picked just a few to bring them in otherwise no one but the squirrels will see them!💚🌱💚Lynne.
