Self-affirmations, gratitude, and loving kindness meditations have one thing in common: many people disregard or give up on them because they feel awkward, inauthentic, forced, and empty.  They don’t always “feel” like they’re doing much when attempted for the first few times.

But the fact is they really do work!  Even when it feels like an attempt at one has “failed,” just the act of setting your intention to practice self-compassion, and then proceeding to make that attempt, is enough to strengthen the neural pathways associated with self-compassion.  And each practice helps to further strengthen those same pathways.  To quote Shauna Shapiro, “What you practice grows stronger.”

This actually goes for any new habit, skill, or practice, not just self-compassion.  Trust that if you commit to practicing, over time you will truly be strengthening your ability to do whatever the thing is, no matter how it feels in any given moment.  Even on the days it feels like you are “failing,” you are still getting stronger.

Meditation isn’t scary or mystical or complicated. But I do believe it takes courage. ⁣
It takes courage to take time to ‘be’ in a culture of doing. ⁣
It takes courage to see yourself for all of who you are, even the parts you may not like. ⁣
It takes courage to befriend those parts with loving kindness when you find them.⁣
It takes courage to notice your behaviors and thoughts, and then work to change your patterns and widen your perceptions. ⁣
And for what purpose? ⁣
To be able to face life with grace. ⁣
To be able to love all beings clearly, fiercely and completely. ⁣
So keep having courage, dear friends. Our world depends on it. 🌎.

The retreat is a combination of yoga, mindfulness , verbal mindfulness , breathwork for stress management and optimal performance , psychotherapy techniques ( mainly from internal family systems ) to help understand oneself better, loving kindness and meta practices and talks on many topics including Buddhist philosophy to provide tools that hopefully last a lifetime .
On top of that we have an amazing private chef @_linabou , hikes in the mountains and swims in beautiful waterfalls and lakes !

Our theme for last nights meditation was kindness... and it is everywhere : like when you walk into @canteencornwall and Ben asks ‘how are you?’ and really means it 
when you go to get coffee from @roosbeachcoffee and Fran walks round the counter to give you a hug because you haven’t been in for a while 
or when you get a text asking ‘how’s your heart’ as @cornishholistic often does 
not everything is kind but kindness IS still everywhere. And in the face of unkindness - the best way to dissolve it - is to BE kind

Like these beams of light - let’s ask someone how they are today and mean it, give someone a hug, text someone asking how their heart is... it just feels good and it might just change someone’s day

You are a product of the internal and external experiences of your mind. 🧠

How you choose to interpret your life is based around ideas subconsciously adopted during your primative years of learning. 
And because nobody is born into the perfect family or society, much of what was received has become the cross you now carry 😕

However, it's never too late to replace that outdated data in your brain with Truth and honesty 💞

This is neccessary to do if you want to experience real freedom and unconditional love in and throughout your life experiences. ☮.
