I had to re-read my blog post on Overcoming Adversity because of my slumpy attitude. I do admit that this past week, I have been overthinking and fantasizing in my mind like crazy. It’s insane how far emotions can take you and if you don’t know how to snap yourself out of it, life will keep you stuck in games with no finish line. Yes, I have been so unfocused, procrastinating and incredibly distracted in my thoughts, but I know that I’m definitely not getting to where I need to be if I don’t snap out of it. So I took a step back and asked myself, “Is what you’re doing making you happy?” “Why are you only hurting yourself and others?” Are the thoughts I’m drowning myself in really going to get me to where I want to be? I thought about it for a loooong assss time and realized it wasn’t. There was the problem. Now I had to do something to fix it. So what was I going to do to help myself get through this? Write. Writing is a hobby I picked up not too long ago and has consistently liberated my soul in ways I can’t even describe. This is the first step I take when I need to overcome or celebrate any situation, which leads me that much closer to my end goal.
Earlier today, I shared how I didn’t know how to handle my emotions. Not saying that I figured it out in a few hours, but I realized that all I had to do was take a step back and take all the bullshit out of my life. I need to stop thinking and talking about my problems because that’s the only thing feeding and hindering my growth.
