How to study (properly) and get the most out of your study sessions! 🧠
Of course there’s no ‘right’ way to study. BUT- there are ‘wrong’ ways. Here are some of my favorite tips and tricks when it comes to studying efficiently!
Stick to a routine! This is so important if you want to maximize your study time. Find a system that works for you, and stick to it! If you’re a typer, type up your notes because that’s what works best for you! If you’re not the most artsy, don’t spend the time and energy trying to “pretty notes” your way through a hard class. That doesn’t work for you and that’s OKAY! If you fall into the “my notes are also my artwork” category (🙋🏼♂️) stick to it! If you know you don’t retain information that’s typed in Times New Roman 12 pt font, don’t kid yourself. Pull out the markers, and start creating!
Take breaks! We aren’t machines, we are HUMAN! We run out of stamina, and the quicker you realize that the better! I love the 30-5-60-15 method and I’ve used it for years. Study for increments of 30 minutes followed by a 5 minute break, or study for 60 minutes followed by a 15 minute break. Rest is KEY in preventing study burnout.
Stay focused! It’s so easy to get distracted while studying. Turn on your favorite study playlist and put the phone away. You’ll be amazed at what all you can get through when you push through a concentrated study hour. Without distractions, you can condense a 2 hour study session into 30 minutes of powerful productivity!
Lastly, have fun! Studying doesn’t always have to be a boring library desk and headphones. Explore your study spaces with trips to the coffee shop or a nice outdoor space. Turn on some of your favorite pop songs instead of that same old “peaceful piano” Spotify playlist. It’s YOUR material, learn it how you want!
I hope this inspires you to study your own way, and get creative when hitting the books! Let me know your favorite study hack! 👇🏼 ...
