I have seen so many wedding photos in Yosemite. I have seen hundreds of photos in front of the waterfalls, half dome and taft point. So many of the same poses, some style of dress, same flowers. So many that I sometimes just skip over them when I see them. My mind tells me “you’ve seen that before. What makes that photo different from all of the other photos people take in Yosemite?”
But that just reminds me of the reason I love my job in the first place. Every single one of these photos that we all see in the same locations we all shoot at, they are all SO different. Why? Because the two people you see in those images are different. This experience was so new for them. It was so special for them. And our job was to capture that special experience in its truest form. ••••••
This means capturing their joy filled faces, their intimate moments, the beautiful landscape surrounding them and the way they take it all in while they are holding the person they love.
“That shot has been done before.” This is so wrong. Maybe the idea, the landscape or the pose has been done before. But you know what? The subjects are completely different. And they are what the shot is all about anyway. ...
