✨Are you constantly stressed, anxious, hung up on the past, or worrying about the future? Do you arrive at your destination only to realize that you remember nothing about the drive there? If yes, then honey, you need mindfulness in your life!
✨Being mindful means to be fully present in the moment, aware of what is going on around you & inside of you, without passing any judgement. You are simply just there & aware.
✨The opposite of mindfulness is being lost in the thoughts inside of your mind, worrying about the past & future, & completely missing out on the present moment, which by way, is all you really have.
✨The image above was created by Henck Van Bilsen, a Cognitive Behavior Therapist and Clinical Psychologist. I love how clearly he demonstrates the difference between being mindful (the dog) & being lost in thought (the human).
✨I believe that a lack of mindfulness is one of the biggest problems with humans today. We are so caught up inside of our own heads, that we are losing sight of the beautiful world around us, & the things that truly matter.
✨Apart from revealing the forgotten magic of the world, practicing mindfulness has been shown to decrease stress, help regulate emotions, decrease effects of depression & anxiety, increase compassion toward others, & improve overall quality of life.
✨If you are new to mindfulness, here is an easy way to begin your practice: 🌿Go out into nature.
🌿Use all of your senses to tune in to the environment around you (i.e. listen to the birds chirping, smell the aroma of the grass, admire the beauty of the flowers, touch the bark of trees, feel the sun beaming down on you).
🌿Try not to pass any judgements, just be there and be aware.
🌿If you notice your mind wandering to thoughts about the past or future, simply bring your attention back to the nature around you.
✨It is as simple as that!
✨Life is beautiful, and it is time that we get out of our heads and pay attention to it. ...
