One last batch of my signature #PhDough before I hit the road. I don’t mean to be overly sentimental (but let’s be real—moving always turns me into a sap), but this recipe is more than just flour, butter, and sugar to me—I started making these exact cookies with my college roommates nine years ago (!!), made friends in Portland during graduate school by bringing batches to all my neighbors, and have made hundreds here for colleagues, students, and friends. These cookies have carried me through my weekend-long qualifying exams, three rounds of marathon training, writing a dissertation, job applications, lesson planning, and so much more.
