• Workspace •
I don’t know about you but I’m the kind of person that needs a workspace I WANT to come to. Being a freelance artist may give you the freedom to decide your own timings but it requires the discipline to stay punctual and productive EVERY SINGLE DAY. So for someone like me, I want to see my workspace and be happy that I’m here, working at random hours, balancing 6 freelance projects, creating and promoting my own content and being my own boss. ⠀⠀
Where my freelance homies at? ...
Nouveau projet, très très particulier pour moi 🙏
I made a mistake.
And not just any mistake either… a $45,000 one. 💸
I’ve never told you this story before, but I think now might be a good time. I see a lot about fear of failure, making mistakes that will cost you everything… I’ve heard all of that. But I’ve experienced it, too.
It was the fall of 2013. I closed a thriving business to go after my dream that would fulfill me - @inkwellpress.
My family and I scraped together pennies and made do with living within our means. But even with how hard we worked together to make this dream a reality… we ended up partnering with a vendor that didn’t exactly see eye to eye with us on our goals.
I’m betting we’ve all been here before, right? Where the other person doesn’t quite buy into your dream and things start going all wrong?
Delay after delay… we still didn't have our planners for our FIRST launch ever. Our vendor said it would be $4k-$5k to have it shipped immediately (money I didn’t really have!
No, that first line in this post isn’t a mistake. We ended up with a $45,000 mistake.
Like I said, this story isn’t something I’ve really mentioned before, but when @incmagazine asked for my story and some insider info… I thought now would be a good time. After all, it’s been a few years. 😉
You can read about it at the link in my bio or at bit.ly/incTD. Even if you’re not a business owner, there are some good takeaways in there I’m sharing with you.
But my main takeaway? Failure is an opportunity for success. A $45,000 mistake didn’t feel good. It felt scary, but I turned it around for the better. And in some ways, I’m thankful for my mistake.
For one, we earned points from putting that $45K on our AmEx card… and we have continued to use AmEx as our main card because they believed in us. They’re actually the only credit card company out there that let you to put that much on your card.
So now, we’re planning a trip next year where we are cashing in those points earned from this massive mistake and turning it into a really nice vacation. :)
Do you have a mistake you’re now thankful for? Something that pushed you to where you are today? I’d love to hear about ...
Sometimes energy is low and productivity is zip EVEN WHEN you put on glasses to feel more smart. 🤔🤓😉 But there ARE ways to increase energy if you need that boost. 🤙Here are some:
✅Yerba Mate tea is a great stable-energy booster (also great for social anxiety🤯)
✅Lion’s Mane is an incredible mushroom that helps increase focus (@botanicahealth has a cool powdered iced tea with it👍)
✅Breathing in and out through your mouth in short bursts, equal length each way
✅Sniffing an orange peel can increase energy 🍊
✅Sniffing peppermint essential oil can wake you up and increase productivity
✅Blending 1 tsp. coconut oil and 1 tsp. MCT oil in your coffee can ignite an energy you didn’t know you had.
Of course, if you are wiped, a 20 minute power nap might just be what you need. 💤 Or maybe two pairs of work glasses would have done the trick too. 🤓🤓 ...
