Late night bordeaux. Maybe the best bordeaux’s bottle that I’ve tasted this year. Seems that the conservation of this bottle was always impeccable. Fully mature, with a floral, cherry, black raspberry, tobacco and earthy nose. Absolutely fantastic!! #chateaucanon#saintemilion#bordeaux ...
Full disclosure: I am writing this caption while very, very hungover 😂 I just arrived back home from @festivalgarorock and I’m feeling rather delicate 🙊 I’m currently lying in bed regretting certain recent life decisions and wallowing a fair amount in self pity 😆
On a day where I was not feeling like death, we drove to the beautiful town of Saint-Émilion 😍 we actually visited when they had a festival on celebrating the 20th anniversary of being designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site! We were about to give up since we couldn’t find any parking 😢 but then finally found some spots as we started to head out of town 🙌🏼 I’m so glad we stopped! Narrow, steep streets with cobblestones wind through Saint-Émilion and make you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. You’ll find pretty storefronts, lots of wine 🍷 and two amazing churches!
Saint-Émilion is best known for their wine and the monolithic church - the church is carved out of a limestone cliff and it’s seriously incredible! It was built in the 11th and 12th centuries and is the largest monolithic church in Europe. You can also climb the bell tower for awesome views but since it was 36 degrees we went and got an iced drink instead 😂
Saint-Émilion is only a half hour drive from Bordeaux and an hour from Bergerac and Marmande, where we stayed. Perfect if you fly into @aeroportbergerac like we did 💁🏻♀️ I definitely want to head back to this region again pronto and explore way more, so many places there I want to see!
Have you been to the south west of France before? Have you heard much about it?
Legendary vintage of Château Angélus, 2005 reflects how unique this year was. Indeed, with perfect temperatures for ripening, grape quality came out as memorable thus gifting Château Angélus 2005 with an harmonious balance of vigour and freshness as well as a pure expression of its fruit aromas.
