Board exams are creeping around the corner and I've yet to study for a single topic but that's okay right? #hakunamatata

everything you do today is a direct investment into your future.
last night i was about to leave work when i realized that one of my patients who’s chart i had done was being placed into observation. since it was 10pm, i could have left. i had just worked a 12 hour shift, and there was nothing that i wanted to do more than go home and go to bed. but, i knew that the discharge summary would then be left to my doctor that i was working with, who already was insanely busy.
so i clocked out.
then walked back onto the floor, sat down by the computer and wrote out the discharge summary. i wasn’t there too much later, maybe 30 min, but my doctor was still really appreciative.
in that moment, i invested into my future LOR that i know i will ask that doctor for. he’ll be able to say that i was willing to go beyond what is required of me, as i have a history of doing this and will continue to.
every test you take an extra hour to study for, every time you go above and beyond at your job, every hour you put into research or WHATEVER it is, it is an investment. you never know what extra fact will get you from a B to an A, you never know what LOR will convince an admissions committee to accept you.
have this mindset with everything you do. always be willing to put in that extra work. that’s what separates people who get into their future schools and those who don’t. be willing to do the extra thing. it’s an investment. you won’t know how much it’s worth until it pays off, but you’ll never regret it. ...
