Nearly 100 miles of walking, a few thousand photos, a myriad of sunburns, and a lifetime full of memories- another Car Week in the books.
There’s honestly no simple way of describing the nature of Car Week or why it works in the way that it does, and that’s just what the week is known for. One day you meet a friend from LA, the next day you meet friends from Germany, England, New York, etc and it is something that can be summarized as normal as far as the week goes.
The same can be said for the vehicles as well, there’s no reasoning that can be applied to the sporadic appearance other than Car Week. It would be seemingly impossible to explain an F1 HDK ripping around a quaint ocean town in Northern California outside of the week’s existence.
And while nothing can be explained, the utter excitement never seems to really wear off. After something absolutely absurd blasts past on the road, the only applicable answer amongst a sea of laughter and faces plastered with smiles is “only Car Week”, because in reality, there’s no reasonable explanation for what occurs there.
You wake up with people you’ve never met prior to the week who share the same accelerated appreciation and leave with friendships and honest stories. It’s never a perfect harmony because of the multitude of cultures colliding together, but nothing in life could ever be as simple as that.
It doesn’t matter though, because you learn about their lives and their passion as the week progresses. One morning it could be a question as strange as “ What’s a Singer??” to being dumbfounded by “ that was the R E D Cinque- like. What??” And while the beauty of this sacred gathering is threatened by clout-hunting imbeciles doing donuts on Ocean Ave. , the specialty will forever outweigh the childish behavior- simply because Car Week is Forever
Many congratulations to everyone who was able to attend for the first time this year! #carweekforever ...
