An ominous lightning storm view from Holmes Beach, FL this past Wednesday night, as two thunderstorms converged over the Anna Maria Sound waters.
After wrapping up a storm timelapse video on the Sarasota waterfront, I packed up and started heading north up the coast on Long Boat Key. I knew the Sarasota storm and the other storm to the north near Tampa Bay were likely to converge near Anna Maria Island in about 20 minutes.
Halfway up the coast I was greeted with a one lane bridge construction zone and a line of traffic. I thought this was the end of the chase, as I was going to be stuck in traffic while the storms pushed off the coast. Luckily, I was part of the next batch to cross the bridge with only having to wait about two minutes. Whew.
I finally arrived just in time at the Kingfish boat ramp / park and got my camera setup. Moments later the new storm formed right over the waters in front of me with a barrage of lightning as seen in the photo above. What a night!
