This is what I call a “warm” welcome to the Netherlands 🇳🇱 ! A table full of delicious fresh vegetables and fish prepared Asian style, perfectly combined with Costières de Nîmes of Michel Gassier. Oh yes, anyone recommendations for nice wine spots in UTRECHT?
Costières de Nîmes was formerly part of the Languedoc in the South of France 🇫🇷. However, as wines resemble more those of the Rhône valley it’s now part of the Rhône. Grapes used for this wine are Grenache Blanc, Rousanne, Clairette, Viognier, and Bourboulenc 🍇. These grapes actually remind me of the white wine from Chateauneuf du Pape. In this region the same grapes are used! No coincide that the soil in these two regions show resemblences as well.
The wine is very elegant on the nose, needs a little air. Floral tones, and definetely mineral accents. After opening up, more fruit notes, peach and citrus fruits. On the palate soft start with fruits like peach and apricot, fresh takeover with nice but not overpowering acidity, on the finish pronounced minerality. Very great quality/value wine! ➡️ SWIPE FOR BOTTLE SHOT! ...
We are planning a new wine tasting evening at NOT!🍷
On Thursday June 6th we will be tasting four different wines from Cafayate, Calchaquí Valley, in the Northern province of Salta 🌵🌵
The vineyards of this region are considered to be the world's highest wine growing region ranging from 1,500 to 3,111 meters above sea level, 🗻🏔delivering wines of great concentration and balance. Due to the height with respect to the level of the sea in which they are, there is a greater thermal amplitude (hot days and cooler nights) where the sun's rays are more intense (higher solar radiation by altitude). The grapes have a greater exposure to ultraviolet rays with what its intensity is greater what gives the wine a great character, strong personality and high quality with fragrances, colors and unique flavors.☀️☀️☀️
This time we will start with one fresh, floral & mineral white (blend of Torrontes 85% & Riesling 15%), one subtle Malbec Rose, one elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and we will finish with one powerful Tannat.
Together with the wines, this time we will also be tasting traditional "Empanadas" 🥟(also very popular in the area), which are homemade delicious pastries with their original recipe. Four different wines will be accompanied with four different empanadas which will create a fabulous pairing.
It would be great if you like to join us! Our tasting will be at 8pm for a group of up to 12 people (Price p.p. € 35.-).
